The Musical Theatre Crew is a production company under the leadership of Leiz Moore and Allan Jeffrey as well as a musical theatre training school for talented young people.

Musical Theatre Training - for talented young people who are passionate about musical theatre

Mission: To develop musical theatre skills in young people aged 6-18 years through performance and production experience.

We have several types of training from beginner to developing skills 'Singing the story' and 'Onstage' classes to our talented Performance Ensembles. Entry into one of our three Performance Ensembles is by invitation following an audition.

Each year these students present public seasons of quality musicals.

We have also provided entertainment for fund-raising events including Save the Children and the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT is available to book - perhaps a vocal group such as Crew-Sing, some smoky jazz or our band the Hipsters with high-energy party music classics from the 60s to date is also available. Events have included the annual conference for the Australian Rheumatologist Society at MONA (think - 250 people in a conga line!), a Christmas Party at the DSS and a 50th birthday at Henry Jones.

Crew Team

Allan Jeffrey, Co-Principal, Producer & Director

Allan is an experienced theatre director and producer, board member and business consultant. Just some shows he has directed/produced are: At the Theatre Royal: Mary Poppins 2018, Wicked 2017 (won Best Direction in Community Musical Theatre, Tasmanian Theatre Awards), The Wizard of Oz, and Disney’s Beauty & the Beast. Eurobeat – almost Eurovision, Peter Pan, An Ideal Husband, La Cage aux Folles, I love you – you’re perfect – now change, Alice in WonderlandLady Windemere’s Fan and Cabaret. With Leiz, Allan has co-produced many productions including the recent City of Hobart Carols by Candlelight.
SNAPSHOT: Allan is a highly experienced award-winning producer and director of many shows, as well as a valued organisational consultant for many businesses.

Leiz Moore, Co-Principal, Producer, Director, Musical Theatre Coach

Leiz is an experienced theatre and band performer having appeared in many amateur and professional productions. Her favourite roles have been as the Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz (Jeffrey Moore Production) and the title role of Peter Pan in 2006 (Hobart Rep). Leiz is an experienced director, producer and choreographer as well as a dance teacher having trained through the National Dancing Association of Australasia and a qualified trainer and assessor.  
SNAPSHOT: Leiz can metaphorically juggle 200 things and usually keep on smiling ;) An inspiration to many, she loves sharing her passion for performing and teaching kids the performance and self-management skills to make a career in this wonderful industry!

Mandy Lowrie, Choreographer & Dance Teacher

Mandy has performed in dozens of shows, including many principal and leading lady roles including Belle in Disney's Beauty & the Beast and Glinda in The Wizard of Oz both at the Theatre Royal for Allan Jeffrey and Leiz Moore Productions. For Musical Theatre Crew, Mandy also performed the role of the 'baddy vixen' Velma von Tussle in Hairspray. Mandy has worked and performed for most theatre companies in Hobart, with some of her favourite roles being Erma in Anything Goes and Desiree in A Little Night Music for G&S. She is also an outstanding dance teacher, specialising in musical theatre and tap styles at Jenina's Dance Workshop and for many hit shows in Hobart including the Crew's Anything Goes for which she won the Tasmanian Theatre Awards inaugural Best Choreography in Community Musical Theatre. In 2020, Mandy will star as the lead role of Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia at the Theatre Royal.
SNAPSHOT: Mandy is beautiful outside and in, has a cheeky sense of humour, is a fantastic performer and sensational choreographer who can work with elite dancers or those with two left feet and make them look fab!

Maggie James, Vocal Director Senior Ensemble

Maggie, a Crew alumni, is a graduate of the Bachelor of Music at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music,  University of Tasmania as well as having trained with Jane Edwards. She is the Vocal Director for Crew’s Senior and Intermediate Performance Ensembles. In 2017, Maggie starred as Dorothy in the Crew's production of Thoroughly Modern Millie following her dramatic performance as the Witch in Into the Woods in 2016. Maggie was a cast member of The Show Company's Wicked in 2017, played the title role (alternate) of Mary Poppins in 2018 and in 2020 will star as Sophie in Mamma Mia, all at the Theatre Royal. Maggie is also a lead singer with the Australian Navy Band in Tasmania.
SNAPSHOT: Maggie has the voice of an angel, which you could listen to all day, lives the roles she performs and is just a delightful person to make theatre with!

Helen Cronin, Properties Manager & Costume Specialist

Helen has 'grown up' in theatre with her family being heavily involved in music in Hobart and with the Playhouse Theatre since she was a very little girl. She has produced, directed and performed in many shows - plays, concerts and musicals. For Leiz and Allan, she was onstage in their co-production with G&S of Disney's Beauty & the Beast at the Theatre Royal, as well as creating magnificent props for their production of The Wizard of Oz. She is in high demand with many companies for her creative and artistic skills with props. She is also Secretary of the City of Hobart Eisteddfod Society. Helen really enjoys pulling together all the creative and technical elements of a show and making 'theatre magic'.
SNAPSHOT: Helen is a legend of the Hobart theatre scene, having performed with and/or worked behind the scenes with most companies. She also makes amazing props, signature costumes and has directed Pantos for Hobart Rep.

Jaime Mollineaux-Herbert, Admin Manager & Guest Tutor

Jaime is an alumni of the Musical Theatre Crew having been an 'original' member since we commenced in 2011. Jaime is currenlty studying for her Bachelor in Fine Arts (Musical Theatre) at Griffith University, Queensland. Jaime appeared in all of the Musical Theatre Crew shows til 'graduating' notably as the Witch in Into the Woods, Sarah Brown in Guys & Dolls and Erma in Anything Goes. Jaime was a cast member of The Show Company's Wicked understudying the role of Glinda and performed during the season at the Theatre Royal. She has also been in many school productions, as well as for other companies including played a Heather in Heathers and Sue Snell in Carrie (Bijou creative).
SNAPSHOT: Jaime is a dynamic leading lady with a stunning voice, great moves and fantastic work ethic. She is also a hot choreographer, director, production manager - is there anything she can’t do?!

Lucinda Smith, Centrestage & Onstage Tutor

Lucinda is a highly experienced musical theatre performer and is adored by Crew members, from our littlies to seniors and the whole Crew community. Crew shows Lucinda has appeared in are 42nd Street as Dorothy Brock, Into the Woods as an ugly step-sister, Grease (teen) as Patty, Peter Pan jr as a Fairy and she starred as Elle Woods in the 2019 production of Legally Blonde. Lucinda has also performed many St Mary’s College productions, REACT showcases and for other theatre companies. Lucinda is studying voice with Jane Edwards.
SNAPSHOT: Our ‘Nin’ is a vivacious, generous and talented performer who is a kind, patient, fun, super-organised and reliable team member!
