Enrolment for 2025!

We are looking forward to another fantastic year of theatrical, screen acting, singing and dancing adventures!
Please note that all classes have limited places available to enable our tutors to provide appropriate tuition, direction and supervision. Students reenrolling are given priority placement, and we have a long wait-list of people wanting to join. We reserve the right to adjust days, dates, times, student ages/year groups, tutors, venues, pricing and other details of classes as needed.

CODE OF CONDUCT

All students, their parents/guardians and other supporters will:

  1. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of students, tutors and helpers.

  2. Behave in a safe way, adhering to health and safety rules and instructions, to protect their own and others’ safety, health and wellbeing. Theatre and live performance venues have varying risks and students, parents and family members are required to follow all reasonable directions of tutors and authorised venue personnel.

  3. Notify the Principals or Tutors of any injury, illness or health and wellbeing concerns prior to participating in any activity, including notifying medical treatment plans and NOT attend class in the event of having any COVID-19 or other contagious disease symptoms (eg: measles, chicken pox) until medical clearance is given.

  4. Approach classes and performances with a positive attitude, focusing on good quality production values and a spirit of collaboration.

  5. Raise individual learning, study and career goals and support needs with the Principals and/or tutors to enable appropriate additional support to be provided or to give adequate notice if leaving so as to avoid any disruption to other students and productions.

  6. While constructive feedback is important and used at Crew for skill development, thoughtless criticism of others and gossip, particularly ‘behind a person’s back’, is not acceptable and students who behave in intolerant, gossipy, bullying ways will be required to engage in reflecting on their behaviour and undertake to change their behaviour. Crew Tutors reserve the right to ask any student to leave class/rehearsal/performances for inappropriate and/or unsafe behaviour, with parents/guardians to be informed and involved in resolving the situation (if the student is under the age of 18). The Principals reserve the right to withdraw students from Crew and will inform both the student and parent/guardian (if student is under the age of 18) of the requirement and explanation for the decision.

  7. Acknowledge that theatre and dance may involve physical contact between students and/or tutors to create works and improve posture and dance and movement technique. Tutors will explain techniques and safety requirements (such as for lifting and carrying others, alignment, working with others on fight and intimacy scenes, etc). It is the responsibility of the student (or parent/guardian) to advise of any general requirements or concerns at enrolment; and/or if the student is under the age of 18, for parents/guardians to reinforce to their child/ren their rights to express any concerns in the rehearsal room or performances.

  8. Endeavour to prioritise scheduled Crew activities, avoiding clashes as far as practical, and give reasonable notice of any absences. As theatre is a ‘team sport’, acknowledge that excessive absences (eg: more than 2 weeks per term) may lead to the need for reduced involvement in shows and/or changes in cast roles.

  9. All students must wear appropriate clothes they can move freely in to class (NO skirts/dresses, tight jeans, etc.). Appropriate, safe footwear must be worn for rehearsals including sports shoes/runners for general theatrical rehearsals (not heavy/heeled boots, thongs or high heels), and for dance segments black and/or tan jazz and tap shoes for all students, and for teen female roles: tan/black chorus heels as required. Costumes allocated for performances are to be worn as directed, with any concerns related to comfort or appropriateness raised directly with the costume team or a tutor. This helps ensure safety in the class room, rehearsals and in performance, assists teachers with developing students’ posture and appropriate physicality, builds pride in Musical Theatre Crew and appropriately represents Crew.

  10. Positively represent Musical Theatre Crew and acknowledge Musical Theatre Crew productions and Tutors where appropriate such as in program bios, for auditions, awards and other events.

  11. Participate with a spirit of interest, contribute to exploring ideas, investigate different ways of singing, speaking, acting, moving and dancing, include others and work with others, make engaging theatrical performances and have fun!

In addition to fulfilling tutor responsibilities associated with the above items, the Crew Principals, Tutors and Assistant Tutors will:

  1. Provide a stimulating, experiential-learning based musical theatre training program with suitable performance opportunities that build young people’s skills and confidence in a safe, enjoyable learning environment.

  2. Lead and guide students and their families and friends in contributing to the presentation of quality musical theatre performances for family, friends and the public.

  3. Take reasonable care and provide timely information in the conduct of all Crew classes, productions and other activities.

  4. Provide feedback to parents and students, periodically, on the development of performance skills and learning goals.

  5. Respect that students, their families and friends make a considerable commitment to our school and are valued members of the ‘Crew family’ who will be provided with the opportunity to be involved in related activities where possible.

  6. Recognise that as students grow up, their interest in musical theatre, school and extra-curricular activities will evolve in different ways and endeavour to support students to navigate changing interests and, at times, clashes in a responsible, timely way while avoiding disruption to Crew activities and other students.

  7. Seek to resolve any problems in a caring, prompt and fair way, while recognising that there are peak ‘busy’ times for Crew productions that require students and their families to prioritise Crew.

  8. Role model positive team behaviours, be inclusive and supportive while helping students to set achievable and at times challenging learning goals, create works, have some fun and create memorable experiences along the way!
